The Many Causes Of The Menopause
There are various reasons why the menopause does occur, though the main reason is because the ovaries eventually stop producing eggs. This brings an end to your periods and it also causes many uncomfortable symptoms. Mainly the menopause is associated with people who are over a certain age, but unfortunately there are some causes which force some women to go through the menopause early. So just what are these various causes?
The Various Causes Which Bring on the Menopause The main cause of menopause is natural and it occurs usually during the ages of 45-55. It is because the ovaries do not have any more eggs to be released and so the woman goes through her last ever period. Not many women realise that they are born with a certain amount of eggs and they are all the eggs that they will have in their lifetime. Many of us just assume that we produce eggs every month, but that is simply not the case. We are just releasing eggs which have already existed in our bodies since we were born. So, once we reach a certain age, the number of eggs which we have left is limited and as soon as they run out we go through the menopause. This is completely natural and it is the main cause of the menopause. A not so natural cause on the other hand is a hysterectomy. No matter what age you are, if you do undergo a hysterectomy you will be faced with early menopause. This is because you are having your ovaries removed and as the eggs are in them, your body will no longer need to bleed each month and you will go through the menopause. Other medical treatments such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy can also destroy your eggs and that can also cause you to go through the menopause instantly. The problem with earlier menopause is that the symptoms are often a lot worse than they usually would be if you went through the menopause naturally. Overall the menopause can be brought on by a number of things, but usually it is purely down to natural purposes. Some speculate that it can be down to their individual lifestyle but that is simply a myth. Really it is either caused through medical or surgical treatments of some kind or it occurs naturally. It is extremely unlikely that the amount you smoke or the amount you drink can trigger the menopause but if you are worried you should always speak to your doctor. |
