Asian Recipes: Great Korean Recipes

by Rajiv Kapur

In recent years, numerous individuals in the West have become interested in Korean food and recipes. One could try Korean recipes in a diner, or if you like you may try to cook it at home in your very own kitchen.

Korean food is generally centred around noodles, rice, meat, veggies and tofu (that’s called “dubu” in Korea). Many meals are served with a range of side dishes (”banchane”), as well as steam rice, soup, and kimchi (fermented veggies). Flavor is added utilizing a range of seasonings and spices including ginger, garlic, red chili paste (”gochujang”), soy sauce, salt, and fermented soybean paste (”doenjang”).

A few popular Korean dishes include:

* Gamjatang - A soup based on pork spine and potatoes. It usually also includes other vegetables, green onions, sesame seeds and hot peppers.

* Kongnamul-guk - Soybean sprout soup.

* Maeuntang - A hot and spicy fish soup.

* Jeongol - A seafood and vegetable stew.

* Hoe - Thinly slice rawfish, fairly similar to Japanese sashimi. Typically dipped in wasabi or red chili paste (”gochujang”), and offered on cellophane noodles (”dangmyeon”).

* Sannakji - A raw, very fresh small octopus, seasoned and sliced into pieces and served - it may still be moving on your plate!

* Ramyeon - Noodles with meat and vegetables, identical to Japanese ramen noodles.

* Kongnamul-bap - Rice with soybean sprouts.

* Japchae - Potato noodles with beef, carrots, onions and spinach.

* Kalguksu - Flat noodles in a bisque.

* Yukhoe - Raw beef topped with egg yolk, and seasoned with garlic, green onions and a variety of spices.

* Bulgogi - Meat or seafood prepared on a grill. Common forms include chicken (”dak bulgogi”), pork (”dweji bulgogi”), and squid (”ojingeo bulgogi”).

* Dakgalbi - Grilled chicken.

* Galbi - Grilled pork ribs.

* Makchang - Grilled pork intestines (similar to chitterlings).

* Samgyeopsal - Grilled pork abdomen. Slices of meat are positioned inside lettuce with cooked rice and a spicy paste (”ssamjang”). A range of accompaniments such as chillies, spring onion salad, or raw garlic immersed in samjang can be eaten with the dish.

What To Do If You Can’t Lose Weight Anymore

by Katherine Crawford

Hitting a plateau is one of the worst things that can happen to a dieter. After all, it’s not fun to keep on working hard only to see no difference in the way your body looks.

And most people do not know how to get of plateaus.

Thus, here are 6 ways to get out of a weight loss rut:

1. Stop eating whole grains: Whole grains are healthier than processed carbs, but legumes and beans are healthier than whole grains. You see, legumes and beans will bring your blood sugar as low as possible which in turn will accelerate fat loss.

2. Activate more muscle mass in your workouts: But make sure you don’t extend the length of your workouts. You see, the more muscle mass you activate the more calories you will burn inside and outside of the gym.

3. Eliminate all liquid calories: You need to enforce this rule all the time. No more milk, no more sodas and be very careful with diet sodas because a lot of them do have sugar. The problem with liquid calories is that they spike insulin.

4. Don’t drink any alcohol whatsoever: Not only is alcohol a source of liquid calories, but it also shuts down the production of hormones in your body and promotes fat storage around the abdomen. So give up any type of alcohol intake here.

5. Don’t have any carbs in the last meal of your day: This will ensure that your blood sugar is as low as possible by the time you fall asleep. This in turn will allow your body to secrete as much growth hormone as possible.

6. Reduce the size of your last meal by half: Doing this will help your body’s metabolism slow down which in turn will increase your quality of sleep. Moreover, you will be restricting calories when you’ll feel it the least, right before bed.

Getting out of a plateau as quickly as possible is vital if you want to maintain motivation to keep pushing forward. All you have to do is act on this advice sooner rather than later!
