Hot Flashes - How Are They Treated?

by Fleur Diego

In order to fully understand menopause treatment, it’s important to understand that menopause varies from woman to woman. Some women will experience more hot flashes, while others will have more trouble with their skin, hair and vitality. There are even women who are lucky enough to barely notice that they are having menopause.

Since this is the case, in order to deal with your menopausal problems you should always focus on what you are experiencing. If you are having more trouble with hot flashes for example, you may be glad to know that there are many forms of menopause treatments for it, seeing as how it’s the most common symptom of all. However, if you want to reduce the negative effects of hot flashes, you will need more than just supplements and medication. You will also need to make some changes on your diet and lifestyle.

When it comes to food for example, you need to understand how it can be used as menopause relief, and how they can worsen your problems. For example, foods which have plenty of salt, saturated fat, sugar, alcohol and caffeine can make hot flashes worse.

Just as there are plenty of foods which can make the problem worse, there are also some foods which can help you. Foods which contain a lot of bioflavonids and isoflavones for example are particularly helpful in helping you treat hot flashes. You can get these substances from oranges, grapefruits, soya and linseed.

Vitamin E is another important thing that can give you hot flash relief. This particular vitamin is very good for blood flow and sexual hormones. Good sources of Vitamin E include vegetables, vegetable oils, whole grains and beans. However if you are not prepared to start eating these kinds of foods full time, you can always try buying vitamin E supplements.

In addition to Vitamin E, it’s also important to remember that a good menopause cure is able to replace the depleted amounts of vitamin B, vitamin C, magnesium and potassium inside your body. Most hot flash remedies can give you these vitamins.

What you eat is also just as important as how much you eat. Eating large meals regularly can dilate your blood vessel, which consequently increase your body’s blood temperature. In addition to the amount of food you eat, you should also drink a lot of water especially if you are having a lot of problem with severe menopause symptoms.

And lastly, watch your weight. Being overweight or underweight can worsen hot flashes and other symptoms. Being overweight oftentimes stimulates metabolism which in turn raises blood temperature, which is obviously bad for those who are suffering from hot flashes. Likewise, women who have little fat cells will also have less estrogen, and that will lead to more hot flashes.

So always that remember as far as dealing with hot flashes, treatment has a lot to do with the kinds of nutrients you take into your body.

The Symptoms And Treatment Of Menopause

by Jasmin Walson

Commonly associated with the advancing of age, menopause is often referred to as ‘the change of life.’ During it’s occurrence, the ovaries stop producing estrogen and the reproductive system begins to gradually shut down. As the body attempts to adjust to the changing levels of hormone during menopause, a variety of symptoms may occur. Among them, depression, anxiety, hot flashes, irritability, changes in moods, the inability to concentrate, etc. In addition to these symptoms, women may experience irregular menstrual periods during menopause.

The average age that a woman begins to see the onset of menopause is 50, but there are women who enter menopause earlier. A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that is often performed in order to help women through the process. Once the cycle is complete, known as being post-menopausal, women will find that they are at an increased risk of developing osteoporosis.

The treatment for menopause typically includes Hormone Replacement Therapy and is believed to reduce the weakening of bones often seen in osteoporosis. Through the years, there has been much debate as to whether this type of therapy is actually beneficial. Some women feel that menopause is a natural process as opposed to a disorder. For years, women have been urged to undergo hormone therapy while they are dealing with menopause. They were told to do so under the belief that it would reduce their risk of heart disease, but some experts believe that this type of therapy may actually increase the risk of other illnesses, including breast cancer, heart attack, stroke and Alzheimer’s disease.

Because each woman is unique, menopause may ultimately produce some or all of the aforementioned symptoms. Because these symptoms are also common with other illnesses, the only way to confirm menopause is by seeing a physician. Following a diagnosis, a doctor will be able to provide the best type of medication and/or treatment to help guide the woman through menopause and help her body to make up for the hormones that are no longer being produced as before. It is important that women carefully consider any medications that may increase depression or cause other severe symptoms during not only menopause, but any time in life. The fact that some medication is addictive is just one of the issues to remain concerned with anytime a doctor writes a prescription. In order to avoid these problems, women are urged to ask their physician about possible side effects associated with medication that is used to treat menopause.
